iCal feed

Not everyone will sign in to look at a room calendar. Anyone who only wants to know what is coming up in their area wants to see it in the calendar they already have open. That is what the iCal feed is for: an address you subscribe to, which then stays up to date by itself.

Subscribe once, current from then on

The feed is added to Outlook, Apple Calendar, Google Calendar, Thunderbird or any other program that understands the iCal format. The appointments then appear there alongside people's own – on every device that syncs that calendar, with nobody exporting or forwarding anything.

What it suits

• the occupancy plan of a room a team wants to keep an eye on

• the programme of an event group, such as a course or semester schedule

• an overview of your own bookings in your private calendar

• signage and information screens that can read a calendar

The other direction too

Displays can be attached straight to an external calendar through DoorZign iCal Connect – with no room in Zeitwart at all. Anyone needing a door sign for a room that is managed in a foreign system avoids maintaining it twice.

Where the limits are

A feed is a reading direction. It shows appointments but accepts no bookings – booking still happens in Zeitwart, where the rules and permissions apply. Anyone wanting to create bookings from another system uses the REST API for that; anyone wanting Zeitwart to notify other systems uses webhooks.
