Global search
Find rooms, events and people in seconds – with Ctrl + K, always within your permissions.
The bigger an installation gets, the longer the route to the target: switch to the right view, filter there, then search. The global search skips that route. It is reachable from every page – through the search icon in the navigation, the search field on the home page, or with Ctrl + K (Cmd + K on a Mac).
Five areas in one field
From the second character onwards, Zeitwart searches five areas at once and groups the results by type:
Home tiles – by name and description, sorted alphabetically
Rooms – by room name and room description
Events – by name and venue, future dates only
Displays – by name, e-mail, username or MAC address
Users – by surname and first name
A click goes straight to the destination: a room opens its calendar view, a tile opens the room selection behind it, an event opens the event view. If somebody is already in a room calendar, the room they found is loaded there instead of switching the view.
Everyone sees only what they may see
The search is not a way around permissions. A result area only appears at all if the searcher's role is allowed to see it – anyone without rights to events gets no event results either.
For people it is handled particularly carefully. Whether somebody can be found at all depends on the find users permission; what a click on the result does depends on further permissions. Anyone allowed to see appointments lands in that user's calendar, anyone allowed to see the location gets the location dialogue. Without any of those permissions, the result simply is not clickable.
Limited to a context
The search can be opened with a filter on particular organisational units. Only rooms from those units then appear; the active filter sits as a chip below the search field and can be removed there. On display views the search is switched off entirely – a device in the corridor should not be a staff directory.
